3A State Tournament @ SVC
State Championship Game
RICHFIELD, Utah-JJ Apathjang posted 25 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds on 10-20 from the field as the No. 10 Judge Bulldogs won their first state championship in boys basketball since 2008 with a 65-62 upset of No. 1 South Summit Saturday at The Sevier Valley Center. Logan Woolstenhulme posted 23 points and 10 rebounds on 9-15 from the field and Gage McKee added 19 points and 8 rebounds on 8-10 from the field in the loss for the Wildcats. This was Judge’s 4th all-time state title in boys basketball. The Bulldogs have won state championships in 1980, 2006, 2008 and 2024.
3rd-4th Place Game
RICHFIELD, Utah-Miles Barnett netted 23 points on 9-12 from the field and the No. 5 Richfield Wildcats got past No. 3 Ogden 81-71 to place 3rd at the 3A state tournament at the Sevier Valley Center Saturday. Stockton Marriott led the way in defeat for Ogden with 22 points and 5 rebounds on 7-11 from the field.
5th-6th Place Game
RICHFIELD, Utah-Jessen Barton posted 19 points on 7-10 from the field and 5-6 at the foul line as the No. 4 Manti Templars bested No. 2 Emery 78-72 to place 5th at the 3A state tournament Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Zack Tuttle’s 25 points and 5 rebounds on 10-16 from the field led the Spartans in defeat.
2A State Tournament @ SUU
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Treyson Whitman’s 16 points led the way and the No. 2 Enterprise Wolves routed No. 5 North Summit 61-48 to win the 2A state boys basketball championship Saturday at the America First Event Center. Trevor Richins had a game-high 17 points in the loss for the Braves. Enterprise has now won five state championships in boys basketball. The Wolves have won state titles in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1994 and 2024.
3rd-4th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Komy Ocwor posted 24 points and the No. 2 APA West Valley Eagles routed No. 1 Kanab 74-53 at the America First Event Center Saturday to place third. Cash Mortensen’s 19 points led the Cowboys in the loss.
5th-6th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Stockton Roberts netted 25 points and the No. 7 Duchesne Eagles gashed No. 4 South Sevier 60-53 at the America First Event Center Saturday to place fifth. Parker Crum had 25 points in defeat for the Eagles.
1A First Round
TROPIC, Utah-Luke Andrus netted 31 points and the No. 15 Bryce Valley Mustangs smacked No. 18 Monument Valley 71-50 Saturday in the first round of the 1A playoffs. Braxton Goodshield had 24 points in the loss for the Cougars. The Mustangs next face No. 2 Tabiona Wednesday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs at the Sevier Valley Center.
PRICE, Utah-The No. 17 Altamont Longhorns upset No. 16 Pinnacle 66-59 in the first round of the 1A playoffs Saturday. The Longhorns next draw No. 1 Rich Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Sevier Valley Center in the second round of the state playoffs.
MONTICELLO, Utah-Kaden Pehrson netted 19 points and the No. 14 Monticello Buckaroos dismantled No. 19 Dugway 65-39 Saturday in the first round of the 1A playoffs. Hazen Bullcreek led the Mustangs in defeat with a game-high 20 points. The Buckaroos next face No. 3 Panguitch Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs at the Sevier Valley Center.
Girls Basketball
3A State Championship Game @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-Kamryn Knutson posted 14 points on 5-8 from the field and Abbee Albrecht recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds as the No. 2 Richfield Wildcats bested No. 5 Emery 56-49 to win the 3A state championship Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center, breaking an 11-year title drought. Kali Jensen had 12 points in the loss for the Spartans. Richfield has won state championships in girls basketball in 1985, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2024, capturing their fifth all-time state title in the sport.
3rd-4th Place Game
RICHFIELD, Utah-Afton Orgill posted 15 points and 5 rebounds on 3-4 from the field as the No. 1 Grantsville Lady Cowboys dismantled No. 3 Carbon 66-48 to place third at the 3A state tournament. Madison Orth had 15 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Dinos.
5th-6th Place Game
RICHFIELD, Utah-Emery Miles netted 13 points and 8 rebounds and the No. 7 Canyon View Falcons placed 5th at the 3A state tournament with a 59-46 win over No. 8 Summit Academy Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Avery Backus had a game-high 23 points in the loss for the Bears.
2A State Championship Game @ SUU
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Savannah Bateman posted 15 points and the No. 2 Kanab Lady Cowboys won their third straight state championship with a 57-49 win over No. 1 North Summit Saturday at the America First Event Center. Presley Peterson led the Braves in the loss with 16 points.
3rd-4th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Gentry Brown netted 15 points and the No. 4 Beaver Beavers bested No. 3 Draper APA 61-49 to place third at the America First Event Center Saturday. Aaliyah Baldwin’s game-high 23 points led the Eagles in defeat.
5th-6th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Kinley Jenson netted 23 points and the No. 5 South Sevier Rams pounded No. 6 Duchesne 57-37 Saturday at the America First Event Center to place fifth. Chezney Farnsworth led the Eagles in the loss with 8 points.
1A First Round
PRICE, Utah-Heather Kerr led the way with 22 points and the No. 16 Pinnacle Panthers edged No. 17 Tintic 50-47 in the first round of the playoffs Saturday. Alle Young led the Miners in the loss with 15 points. Pinnacle next faces No. 1 Monument Valley Wednesday at Richfield High School at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
