(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Department of Corrections has appointed Alex Garcia as the new Adult Probation and Parole director. He will be replacing Dan Blanchard, who officials say will be taking on a new position working on special projects. He had served as director since 2015. Garcia has 20 years of law enforcement experience, and most recently worked as the deputy director of Peace Officer Standards and Training at the Department of Public Safety. Utah Department of Corrections Executive Director Brian Redd says such changes can bring “a fresh perspective and new ideas”.
