Around 12:30 a.m. on July 9, Sevier County deputies were dispatched to a report of a subject who was struck by a car at the Gooseberry Admin site. It was reported that the car had fled the scene. While deputies were responding to the scene a description of the car was broadcast to law enforcement and UHP Troopers located the vehicle on I-70. According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, “three vehicles were driving around the gooseberry admin site too fast and some people yelled at the cars to stop. A 17 year old driver and 50 year old passenger got into an argument and made several threats towards individuals at the site. The 17 year old driver then got back in the car and lurched towards the victim before actually hitting the gas and swerved at the victim. The victim jumped across the hood in an attempt to avoid being pinned between the vehicle and another parked vehicle. The victim was thrown from the hood and struck a rock on the side of the road.”
The passenger of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and on probation. The driver and passenger were arrested. The driver for aggravated assault, and the passenger for probation violation. The victim was seen by Sevier County EMT’s and Taken to Sevier Valley Hospital for her injuries.
