(Salt Lake City, UT) — The local committee overseeing Utah’s bid for the Winter Olympics is giving its stamp of approval to a plan to host the Games. The board of the Salt Lake-Utah Committee for the Games approved most of the plan yesterday, saying a few contracts are still pending approval. The plan outlines all that needs to happen to smoothly stage the event, including facilities, lodging, transportation and ticketing. The current price tag for hosting the Olympics is more than two-billion dollars. The International Olympic Committee isn’t expected to name the host for the 2030 Winter Olympics until sometime next year, and could name the host for the 2034 Games at the same time.
