Bill To Create New State Flag Headed To Governor

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah lawmakers are sending a bill to create a new state flag to Governor Spencer Cox. The Utah House passed Senate Bill 31 in a 40-35 vote yesterday. The Senate approved the bill in an 18-to-9 vote a few minutes later. The votes complete a process that lasted more than a year and included thousands of designs submitted by Utahns. Opponents of the change flooded lawmakers with comments, calling some traitors for voting in favor of the new flag. The governor has supported the process and is expected to sign the bill into law.
