House, Senate Unanimously Pass Bills Supporting Winter Olympics

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah lawmakers are showing their support for a bid to bring the Winter Olympics to Salt Lake City. The House and the Senate unanimously passed two measures involving the Olympics yesterday. Lawmakers say the bills give the International Olympic Committee assurances that the city and state will be ready to host the games when they are awarded. The measures also create a committee that will advise the legislature on any issues related to the Olympics. The head of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee says she’s confident that the Winter Olympics will be held in Utah again, though she’s not sure if that will happen in 2030 or 2034.
