Utah Water Managers Hoping Snow Won’t Melt Too Quickly

(Salt Lake City, UT) — State water managers are hoping the ever-increasing Utah snowpack won’t melt too quickly this spring. Another foot of snow fell in some areas thanks to the latest winter storm, and that’s pushed the state snowpack to above-average levels. Officials with the Division of Water Resources say the early results are encouraging, but they are waiting to see if that water makes it into Utah reservoirs. They say a warm spring could help the snow melt too fast, causing flooding that keeps the water from being preserved and used later in the year.
