Mayne Visits Senate For Namesake Bill

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Senate is getting a special visit from a former longtime lawmaker. Retired Senate Minority Leader Karen Mayne stopped by the chamber Friday as legislators discussed a bill she began working on before leaving the Capitol. The bill would provide a scholarship to students looking at law enforcement careers, and is named in her honor. The Democrat left her position last month after explaining her fight with cancer took “an unexpected turn.” St. George Republican Don Ipson now sponsors the bill.
