State Representative Karen Kwan To Replace Mayne In State Senate

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A state representative from Murray is getting a promotion to the state Senate. The Utah Democratic Party announced yesterday that Representative Karen Kwan won a special election and will replace state Senator Karen Mayne. The West Valley City senator announced her resignation a few weeks ago due to health problems. Kwan has already said that she will run for the District 12 state Senate seat in the next election. A special election will be held to fill Kwan’s seat in the House once her appointment is confirmed by Governor Cox.
