(Washington, DC) — Utah’s U.S. senators are joining other lawmakers from the West in a push to get the Department of Agriculture to do more to address the ongoing drought. Republican Senators Mitt Romney and Mike Lee joined 12 other senators from both parties to send a letter to the USDA this week urging the agency to help Western farmers and ranchers. The letter asked for assistance to help those affected by stressing water conservation and efficiency. It also asked the USDA to do a better job allocating resources to the Western region. Senators from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada also signed the letter.
