(Salt Lake City, UT) — Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall says the local biotech industry presents an “opportunity to pivot intergenerational cycles of poverty to intergenerational cycles of thriving.” Mendenhall’s comments came on the city’s first “Human Innovation Day” Thursday. Around 50 high school students attended the event, which started with a tour of two biotech company facilities and ended at the BioHive Summit industry conference. Many students told that they didn’t realize these companies have opportunities available to high school graduates.
