Governor Cox Issues Proclamation To Help Add Water To Great Salt Lake

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Cox is blocking any further diversion of water in three Utah basins in hopes of getting more water into the Great Salt Lake. A proclamation issued by the governor will keep unallocated water in the Bear, Jordan and Weber river basins from being diverted away from the lake. Current water rights holders will be allowed to keep using water from those basins. State officials liken the move to pushing a pause button on any further diversion of water that could flow into the lake.
