(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Republican Party wants the state to ban gender-affirming surgery and the use of hormones for transgender youth. The resolution adopted by the party’s central committee last weekend calls the procedures harmful and irreversible. The resolution was co-sponsored by Utah Senate President Stuart Adams and House Speaker Brad Wilson. The chairman of the state GOP says the resolution gives lawmakers a reason to tackle a bill banning the procedures during their next session.
