RIVERSIDE, Calif.-Saturday, Utah Valley University and Southern Utah University’s track teams competed at the UC Riverside Spring Classic Invitational, each performing well overall.
In the men’s standings, the Sacramento State Hornets took the title with 134 points, while Utah Valley was second with 107 points and Southern Utah was third with 98 points. For the women, Sacramento State also took the crown with 156 points. Utah Valley was fifth with 72 points and Southern Utah placed seventh with 61 points.
Southern Utah’s Morgan Porcaro won the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:04.00 while the Southern Utah men also won an individual title in the 3000-meter steeplechase as Michael Finch ran it in a time of 9:28.75.
Jordan Carder of Utah Valley earned some key points for the Wolverines, placing first in the 200-meter dash in 21.68 seconds and second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.78 seconds.
Southern Utah also got some key points in the men’s javelin as Skyler Porcaro won the title with a toss of 233-3 feet with his teammate, Jeff Rowley, placing second.
