(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Spencer Cox is urging Utahns to take extra precautions if they plan on buying and setting off fireworks during Independence Day and Pioneer Day holidays. Cox and leaders for the Division of Natural Resources said yesterday that there were 115 firework-related fires last year, and that number could skyrocket due to current drought conditions. Residents are reminded to follow fire restrictions in their cities, and to make sure they are setting off fireworks in designated areas.
