Around 4:00 p.m. on June 13, dispatch received a call for a downed power line and a fire next to Highway 118 just north of Austin. According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, high winds caused the power line to fall over, landing on some hay bales catching them on fire.
Due to the fires proximity to the highway the road was shut down for a short time. The power company arrived and shut off power to the line and fire crews from Richfield and Monroe were able to put out the fire by 4:47 p.m. According to Curtis, one fire fighter was checked for a burn but details of what led to the injury and its severity were unknown.
