(Salt Lake City, UT) – State health officials say two new subvariants of COVID-19 that have been blamed for a surge in cases in New York have now been confirmed in Utah. Only two cases have been confirmed so far in Utah. These subvariants of the omicron variant are considered more transmissible than previous strains. Although the number of cases in Utah do not match those seen in New York, health officials say they ‘re concerned gatherings over this Easter weekend may lead to an increase of cases in the Beehive State.
