SAN BRUNO, Calif.-Monday, BYU freshman pitcher Janzen Keisel, a former Gunnison Valley High School star, was named the West Coast Conference pitcher of the week for his contributions to the Cougars’ 3-2 win over Marshall Saturday in the Snowbird Classic at Port Charlotte, Fla.
The 6-4 right-hander out of Gunnison posted 10 strikeouts in the Cougars’ victory over the Thundering Herd.
Keisel also lettered in football, basketball and cross country for the Bulldogs during his decorated high school career.
After besting Ohio State 9-6 Monday, the Cougars concluded this tournament with a 2-2 record.
Keisel and his BYU teammates return to action Thursday at Phoenix to commence a 3-game series against Arizona State.
