Alcohol Bill Could Remove Some Hard Seltzers From Store Shelves

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Some types of hard seltzer currently being sold in Utah could become harder to find under a bill being considered by the state legislature. Senate Bill 176 would take about half of the brands of hard seltzer currently sold in grocery and convenience stores and make them available only in state-run liquor stores. Any hard seltzer that uses an alcohol-based flavoring component would only be found in a DABC store under the new rules. The bill would not expand the number of bar licenses available in Utah, but would close a loophole in the law that allows license owners to profit from selling their permits.
