Lee’s Bill To Provide Broader Relief To Vaccine Mandates Fails To Pass

(Washington, DC) — Senator Mike Lee’s first attempt to place broader exemptions into any vaccine mandates proposed by the Biden administration will not be moving forward. The Utah Republican introduced a bill in the Senate yesterday that would grant an exemption based on anyone’s personal belief that they should not get a COVID-19 vaccine. Lee’s bill would have granted relief for religious or any other sincerely held personal belief. The bill failed when Democratic Senator Patty Murray of Washington objected to Lee’s call for passage by unanimous consent. Lee said he has drafted more bills that he plans to introduce to counter President Biden’s proposal to require vaccinations at businesses with 100 or more employees.
