Governor, Lieutenant Governor Upset With US Department Of Interior

(St. George, UT) — Governor Cox and Lieutenant Governor Henderson are upset with the U.S. Department of the Interior’s plans to relocate the Bureau of Land Management’s headquarters. Last week, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced her plans to rebuild and strengthen the BLM to better serve the American public, which includes moving its headquarters from Utah to Washington, D.C. Cox and Henderson released a joint statement yesterday in response, saying this move represents the very worst of federal overreach. They added that the decision is an affront to western states who have worked tirelessly with locally based BLM personnel to better conserve and manage western landscapes amid droughts, climate change, wildfires and more.
