SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A group accused of beating a man to death behind a Utah grocery store may have done so because they believed he gave his pregnant girlfriend a black eye. Police say 41-year-old Fred Ortiz was chased down and beaten by a group of at least six people behind a grocery store in Magna, Utah on Monday. Arrest reports say Ortiz’s girlfriend told the group at her home that Ortiz had beaten her two days before and given her a black eye. The group allegedly hit Ortiz with a car and beat him with a pole. Two of the at least five suspects have been arrested.
