Several incumbent mayors not seeking reelection

Five of Sanpete County’s incumbent mayors have decided not to run for reelection this year. Jed Bartholomew form Fayette; Cynthia DeGrey from Spring City; Korey Soper from Manti; Cliff Wheeler from Fairview; and Randall Cox from Sterling will not be running.

Incumbent mayors John Scott from Ephraim, Steve Anderson from Mayfield and Mark Coombs from Fountain Green will all run unopposed. Keenan Pearson from Sterling will also face no opposition as a newcomer. Fayette was the only town that didn’t have anyone file for the mayor position. If there are no write-in candidates registered the town council will appoint an interim mayor until the next election.

There are 80 candidates running for mayor and city council positions throughout the county. This is a significant increase as only 60 candidates filed for office in 2019.
