The Sanpete County commission has named an interim sheriff. The position was given to Gary Larsen by the commission on Tuesday Jan. 5. Larson is a lifelong resident of Fountain Green and has been in law enforcement for 34 years. The void was left by Sheriff Brian Nielson, who joined Governor Spencer Cox’s cabinet to head the Utah Department of Corrections.
