Whittni Orton and Anna Camp-Bennett Both Achieve Highly At NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-This past weekend, a pair of former Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network school stars excelled for BYU’s women track and field squad at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Former Panguitch High star Whittni Orton received second-team All-American plaudits by placing 12th in the women’s mile run in a time of 4:41.74. Orton is a junior and promises to be one of the stars for the Cougars’ women’s squad as the scene shifts to the outdoor track and field season this weekend.

Additionally, former Millard High star Anna Camp-Bennett ran on the Cougars’ medley distance relay team that placed second to Oregon (the Ducks won the national title in a time of 10:53.43) and broke a school record with a time of 10:54.14.

Both Orton and Camp-Bennett will join their BYU track and field teammates during the outdoor season. Like Orton, Camp-Bennett is also in her junior year of athletic eligibility.

The Cougars will be divided this weekend between the UNLV Invitational at Las Vegas Friday and Saturday and the Willie Williams Invitational, also Friday and Saturday, hosted by the University of Arizona at Tucson, Ariz.
