UVU Men’s Basketball Returns To Action By Hosting Cal Baptist

OREM, Utah-Friday, Utah Valley men’s basketball (2-5) returns to action by hosting Cal Baptist (3-2) at the UCCU Center in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

The Wolverines score 75.3 points per game, ranking UVU 124th nationally in scoring offense.

Defensively, UVU surrenders 78.1 points per game, ranking the Wolverines 299th nationally in scoring defense.

Senior guard Jamison Overton (19.5 points per game) is UVU’s leading scorer.

Other Wolverines to score in double figures on-average this season include redshirt sophomore forward Fardaws Aimaq (15.9 points per game, team bests in rebounds [15.3] and blocked shots [12]), junior guard Trey Woodbury (15.4 points per game, team-bests in assists [36] and steals [11]) and graduate student forward Evan Cole (12.3 points per game).

Wolverines head coach Mark Madsen is 13-24 (.351) in his second season at the helm of the UVU program.

California Baptist scores 90.6 points per game, ranking the Lancers sixth nationally in scoring offense.

The high-octane Lancers are led by sophomore guard, Australian national Reed Nottage (17.2 points per game).

Other California Baptist standouts to score in double figures on-average include Canadian national, redshirt junior guard Ty Rowell (17 points per game, a team-best 25 assists) and Australian nationals, sophomore guard Tre Armstrong (11.6 points per game) and graduate student Gorjok Gak (11.2 points, team-bests in rebounds [10 per game], steals [5] and blocked shots [5]).

The Lancers are coached by Rick Croy, who is 169-54 (.758) in his seventh season at the helm of the program.

The Wolverines and Lancers are tied 2-2 all-time.
