LAS VEGAS-Monday afternoon, Utah Valley men’s basketball seeks its initial win of the season against a fellow Division I opponent as they face the Hartford Hawks at the Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.
The Wolverines started the season with a 96-71 win over NCAA Division II Westminster, but they have since dropped games to BYU (65-75), Saint Mary’s (63-92) and Utah State (46-65).
The Wolverines will be meeting the Hawks, who represent the America East Conference, for the first time in program history.
This is the seventh time in program history the Wolverines have played a team from the America East and they are 2-4 all-time in such games.
The Hawks come into this game at 1-3, having recently earned their first win of the season, a 68-54 decision over the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
Hartford averages 67 points a game thus far this season, while surrendering 76.5 points per contest.
Redshirt sophomore forward, Irish national John Carroll, averages 16.3 points and 6.0 rebounds thus far this season for the Hawks.
Should the Wolverines win or lose this game, they will play either the Iona Gaels or the Long Beach State 49ers Wednesday.
