SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, just days before the Utah women’s soccer season kicks off, head coach Rich Manning announced the addition of three players for 2018.
The Utes have added goalkeeper Jamie Goodwin of Rocklin, Calif., defender Alexis Rushlow of Glendora, Calif. (a Texas Tech transfer) and German national defender/forward Ali Schinko of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.
Goodwin comes to the Utah program after serving as a team captain for the Sierra College Wolverines of Rocklin, Calif. As a goalkeeper, she was a two-time all-Big 8 conference selection and added four goals, all of which came on free kicks.
Goodwin is also resilient off the pitch as she was diagnosed with leukemia early in life but has still managed to excel in various areas.
Rushlow comes to the Utes’ program after appearing in five matches as a freshman for Texas Tech. Prior to this, she excelled for the Glendora (Calif.) Tartans, amassing 33 goals and 21 assists during her scholastic career.
Schinko comes to Utah after spending time on her TSG 1899 Hoffenheim team as it captured successive 2nd Bundesliga Sud titles.
Previously, Schinko posted 42 goals in two seasons with the Hoffenheim youth team and served as the team captain while her squad earned the championship of south Germany.
