Utah State’s Dax Raymond Named To Mackey Award Watch List

LOGAN, Utah-Friday, Utah State tight end Dax Raymond was named to the John Mackey Award watch list by the National College Football Awards Association.

This award is annually given to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.

In 2018, this award will be announced December 5 and presented live on December 6 during the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show.

Raymond is one of five Mountain West Conference tight ends to be put on the watch list. Others include John Bates of Boise State, San Jose State’s Josh Oliver, Jared Rice of Fresno State and San Diego State’s Kahale Warring.

Athlon Sports has also tabbed the 6’5″ 250-pound Raymond, a Timpview High product, as a preseason first-team All-Mountain West performer.

Raymond, who is entering his junior season, ranked second among all Mountain West tight ends in 2017  and had multiple receptions in 10 of the Aggies’ 12 games last season.

He led the Aggies in receiving on five occasions last season and had a season-high six catches in a 27-14 loss to Colorado State.

Overall, in his collegiate career, Raymond has 45 receptions for 528 yards and one score with a long reception of 32 yards.
