Utah State Men’s Basketball Hosts San Diego State Tuesday evening

LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, Utah State men’s basketball (22-6, 12-3 in Mountain West Conference play) hosts San Diego State (18-9, 10-4 in Mountain West Conference play) as the Aggies and Aztecs are two of the hottest teams in the conference.

The Aggies have won their last four games and San Diego State is the winner of five straight.

Utah State head coach Craig Smith is the winningest coach in Division I in his first year at a new program (.778) and has the most overall wins among such coaches at 22.

The Aggies score 78.6 points per game and surrender 65.9 points per contest.

Junior guard Sam Merrill (20.2 points per game) is Utah State’s leading scorer.

Freshman Portuguese national Neemias Queta (11.6 points, 9.1 rebounds per game) also has 70 blocks this season. He also had a Mountain West-freshman record six blocks in a 78-77 loss to Fresno State January 9.

The Aztecs score 73.6 points per game and surrender 67.9 points per contest.

Redshirt sophomore forward Jalen McDaniels (16.9 points, 8.3 rebounds per contest) is the Aztecs’ leading scorer.

Senior guard Devin Watson (16.3 points per game) and sophomore forward Matt Mitchell (10.6 points, 4 rebounds per game) also are stellar for San Diego State.

The Aztecs lead the Aggies 11-3 all-time and have won the last 11 games in the series against Utah State.
