Utah State Football’s Dominik Eberle and Aaron Wade Honored By Mountain West Conference

LOGAN, Utah-Monday, after Utah State’s 60-13 decimation of New Mexico State, a pair of Aggies stars from the game were honored by the Mountain West Conference.

Placekicker Dominik Eberle, who made all six of his field goal attempts, was named as the MWC special teams player of the week. Also, safety Aaron Wade was named as the MWC defensive player of the week.

Wade earned the first two interceptions of his career Saturday and also amassed a career-high 10 tackles against New Mexico State.

Sunday, Eberle also earned the College Football Performance Awards National Performer of the Week honors following his record-setting performance against New Mexico State. For good measure, he also earned a helmet sticker from ESPN for his heroics.

Eberle, a 6-2 junior out of Nuremberg, Germany, tied the NCAA record for points in a game by a kicker, with 24 Saturday. This mark was first reached in 1984 by Western Michigan kicker Mike Prindle.

He also tied an NCAA record with three 51-yard field goals, becoming just the sixth player in history to accomplish this feat.

In USU annals, Eberle is second in program history in field goal percentage (.778). He is also eighth all-time in Aggies history in field goals made (28) and ninth all-time in field goals made (36).

Utah State returns to Maverik Stadium Thursday September 13 against the FCS Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles of the Ohio Valley Conference.
