Utah Prep Track Roundup: 4/27

RICHFIELD, Utah-Friday, Richfield High School hosted the Norris Invitational amid warm temperatures with some intermittent rain, but many in the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network excelled despite the mercurial weather.

For the boys, Grand took the title with 137 points, as Richfield placed second with 106 points. Panguitch finished fourth with 67 points and Manti checked in at fifth with 58 points.

Richfield’s girls successfully defended their home turf with 125.83 points, clearly outdistancing second-place Panguitch, who had 74 points. Millard and Manti tied for fourth with 46.3 points and North Sevier was sixth with 46 points.

Manti’s girls took the medley relay title in a time of 4:37.06, as the team consisted of Megan Olson, Ashton Wood, Alexis Jaussi and Madison Norris.

For the boys, Richfield won the medley in a time of 3:49.95. This Wildcats squad was comprised of Ben Anderson, Braxton Rappleye, Kaden Stillman and Hunter Torgersen.

In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, North Sevier’s decorated Mayci Torgerson took the title in 16.31 seconds, while Kanyon Lamb of Panguitch won the 110 and 300-meter hurdles, sweeping this difficult event for the boys.

North Sanpete’s Isabelle Hightower won the girls’ 100-meter dash in a time of 12.84 seconds with Gunnison’s Jade Wimmer swept the 200 and 400-meter dash crowns for the girls, ensuing in her consistent mastery.

Millard’s Turner Koyle won the boys’ 200-meter dash crown in a time of 22.48 seconds while Taylia Norris of Panguitch earned the girls’ 1600-meter run title in a time of 5:26.83.

Hayden Harward of Richfield won the 1600-meter run crown for the boys and Manti’s Jordan Cheney got the job done in the boys’ 3200-meter run, earning that title.

Richfield’s girls won the 4 x 100 relay in a time of 51.97 seconds. This team was comprised of Payton Olsen, Brynn Christensen, Brianna Davis-Mitchell and Passion Reitz.

Reitz also showed her skills in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, earning the title in a time of 48.09 seconds with the Wildcats earning another individual title in the boys’ 800 as he ran this in 2:07.53.

Wasatch Academy’s girls won the 4 x 400 relay title in a time of 4:27.24 as the Tigers’ squad consisted of Sheilah Cheruiyot, Ashley Lagat, Purity Kattam and Courtney Condie.

For the boys, Richfield won the 4 x 400 relay crown in a time of 3:27.75. This team consisted of Hayden Harward, Kade Jensen, Jonathan Monsen and Chaz Roberts.

Richfield’s Melissa Crane won the girls’ long jump crown with a leap of 16.05-50 feet and Kenzie Mason of North Sevier won the girls’ shot put and javelin crowns.

Panguitch’s Bryson Marshall won the boys’ discus and Richfield’s Cayden Acord took the shot put title.

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Friday, Cedar High School hosted the first day of the Cedar Invitational, which featured several teams from the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network coverage area, primarily situated in the southern half of our coverage area.

In the girls’ standings thus far, Box Elder and Desert Hills are tied for first place with 36 points with Beaver in 7th place at 11 points.

For the boys, Desert Hills is in first with 37 points and Beaver is impressively in second with 27 points. Milford is currently in seventh place with 11 points.

In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Beaver’s Samantha Williams placed a respectable fourth overall with the Beaver girls placing third in the medley. This team consisted of Williams, as well as Brooklyn Crum, Linley White and Kaitlyn Hemond.

In the boys’ medley, the Valley Buffaloes placed a respectable fifth overall. This team consisted of Spencer Cox, Braxton Heaton, Garrett Spencer and Cameron Franklin.

In the boys’ javelin, Beaver’s Josh Webb finished fourth and Easton Syrett of Bryce Valley was sixth overall.

The boys’ shot put saw Austin Carter of Beaver take the title with a toss of 62-08.50 feet as Trae Williamson of Milford placed third overall.

Furthermore, the Beavers got another win from Cole Marshall in the long jump with a leap of 21-07 feet.

On the heels of these impressive performances, there will be more opportunities to excel later on as the meet resumes Saturday.

SALEM, Utah-Friday, Delta and Juab’s track and field teams represented the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network coverage area at the 2018 Skyhawk Midnight Invite at Salem Hills High School.

In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles seeded section, Delta’s Savannah Nielson placed fourth and Juab’s Natalie Tolbert was fifth.

In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles seeded section, Jaymen Brough of Delta placed second, as he did in the 300-meter hurdles as well.

Ronnie Walker of Juab won the girls’ 100-meter dash in the seeded section in a time of 12.87 seconds.

The Wasps were also bolstered by Dylan Vonmotz, who placed second in the boys’ 100-meter dash open section.

In the boys’ seeded 100-meter dash, Dallin Draper of Delta blew away the competition in 10.94 seconds for the title.

The boys’ 300-meter hurdles open section also saw Juab do well, with Bryton Matheson placing third for the Wasps.

Delta’s Quincy Miller also excelled in the girls’ 800-meter open section, taking the title in 2:40.74. In the girls’ 200-meter open section, the Rabbits got another title from Megan Atkinson in a time of 27.24 seconds.

In the girls’ 4 x 400 relay, Delta placed second and Juab was third. Symmetrically, this was also the case for each respective team in the boys’ 4 x 400 relay.

In the open girls’ discus Delta’s Bridgette Christensen placed second and in the seeded girls’ javelin, Juab’s Taya Darrington placed second.

Delta swept both the boys open and seeded high jump titles. In the open, Britton Smith won it with a leap of 5 feet 10 inches, with Jaymen Brough leaping 6 feet for the seeded crown.

Finally, in the girls’ seeded long jump event, Delta’s Ashlee Nielson placed second, while Juab’s Emilia Anderson and Ronnie Walker finished fourth and fifth effectively.
