Utah Football Seniors To Participate in Postseason All-Star Games

SALT LAKE CITY-As the college football bowl season has wound down, numerous seniors aspiring for NFL careers have been granted invitations to postseason all-star games in hopes of impressing scouts and general managers.

Several University of Utah seniors have received invitations to participate in both the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl.

Participating in the January 19 Shrine Game at Tropicana Field of St. Petersburg, Fla. are kicker Matt Gay on the East team and left tackle Jackson Barton and linebacker Cody Barton who will represent the West squad.

Gay is coming off of his second consecutive All-America campaign and made 21 consecutive field goals in 2018, the longest such stretch in the nation.

Both Jackson Barton and Cody Barton earned All-Pac-12 honors in 2018 while Cody netted 116 total tackles, ranking him ninth in the Pac-12.

At the Senior Bowl, which is slated for January 26 at Mobile, Ala., the Utes will be represented by safety Marquise Blair, linebacker Chase Hansen and punter Mitch Wishnowsky.

Blair is a second-team all-Pac-12 safety and posted 50 tackles, an interception and two pass breakups on the season for the Utes.

Hansen was named as a first-team all-Pac-12 safety and posted 114 tackles, two interceptions (including one pick-six) and four pass breakups.

Wishnowsky is both a three-time All-American and three-time first-team All-Pac-12 punter.

He ranked 10th nationally in punting average in 2018 at 45.1 yards.
