Utah Baseball Hosts Arizona State For Weekend Series

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday through Saturday, Utah baseball (11-19, 3-12 in Pac-12 play) hosts #12 Arizona State (28-7, 10-5 in Pac-12 play) in a key Pac-12 series at Smith’s Ballpark.

Should the Utes win a game this series, that victory will be the 600th in the career of head coach Bill Kinneberg. He is in his 24th season of coaching at the Division I level (16th at Utah) having also coached at Wyoming and UTEP.

The Utes are on a 3-game winning streak, having taken two of three from USC last weekend while also besting Utah Valley earlier this week.

Utah is led by junior infielder Oliver Dunn (a .356 batting average, 2 home runs, 16 RBI) and senior outfielder Erick Migueles (4 home runs, 28 RBI).

Senior left-handed pitcher Joshua Tedeschi (4-3 record) has the best record on the Utes’ staff.

The Sun Devils are led by junior outfielder Hunter Bishop (.394 batting average, 17 home runs, 45 RBI) and sophomore infielder Spencer Torkelson (a .377 batting average, 11 home runs, 42 RBI).

Freshman left-handed pitcher Erik Tolman is the star of Arizona State’s pitching staff (1.11 ERA, a 3-0 record) while junior right-handed hurler Alec Marsh (2.02 ERA, 8-1 record, 54 strikeouts) is a standout for the Sun Devils as well.
