Utah Baseball Drops Series Finale With Cal, 13-6

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah baseball totaled six runs on 11 hits, but the Cal Bears completed the sweep taking the game 13-6 at Smith’s Ballpark on Sunday, May 5.

Zack Moeller went 3-5 with two RBI and Briley Knight had another good day at the plate going 1-3 with three RBI. Knight has had five RBI in the last two games.

Utah did its damage in the third and fifth innings totaling all of its six runs.

In the third, the Utes totaled two runs on four hits. Erick Migueles and Moeller each had an RBI in that inning.

In the fifth, Utah scored its first run with a Moeller single to left field. After Shea Kramer was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Knight cleared them with a double to left center.

Unfortunately, Cal’s bats were hot as they hit a season high five home runs in the game to help them get to 13 runs.

Dustyn Schramm started on the mound for Utah and his record fell to 1-3 on the season.

Oliver Dunn and Matt Richardson also had good days at the plate as both went 2-4. Dunn led the team scoring two runs.

Utah will be back on the road next week taking on the Washington Huskies beginning Friday, May 10 at 8 p.m.
