USU Men Basketball’s Merrill, Queta, Receive NABC All-District Honors

LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, Utah State men’s basketball stars, junior guard Sam Merrill and freshman center Neemias Queta received honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

This commemorates the third consecutive year an Aggie has been named to the all-district teams.

Merrill made the NABC All-District 17 first team, scoring 20.9 points per game for the Aggies and 22 points per contest in Mountain West Conference games.

Merrill also averaged 4.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 90.4 percent at the foul line in conference games.

Queta, a Portuguese national, asserted himself as the best freshman in program history.

He posted 11.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while also posting a freshman-record 84 blocks (2.4 per game.)

Queta also netted a team-best 312 rebounds on the season, becoming the first Aggie to surpass 300 rebounds since the 1976-77 season.

Other Mountain West student-athletes to receive this honor included Nevada senior forward Jordan Caroline and Wolf Pack senior guard Caleb Martin.
