LOGAN, Utah-Thursday morning, Utah State football head coach Gary Andersen conducted a press conference to discuss changes to his coaching staff.
The changes include the hiring of offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder and the reshuffling of various other coordinators to other positions from last season’s staff.
Andersen said that new co-defensive coordinators, Frank Maile and Stacy Collins, believe they are in better positions for their skills than they were last season.
Andersen confirmed that Reeder was the right choice for his position because he is invested in recruiting and he conducts ‘football school’ for the skill position players and offensive linemen under his purview.
Reeder said the USU job appealed to him because he believes Andersen is the best person to work for in college football.
Reeder said that playing complementary football is of paramount importance, not necessarily playing up-tempo football all the time.
Andersen later said he plans to stay in the background and serve as the team’s general manager, in essence.
Andersen concluded the press conference by being asked about special teams. This is important because as of yet, he has not hired a special teams coordinator.
Andersen did confirm that somebody will be in charge of special teams and more specifically alluded to the specialists.
