OSKALOOSA, Iowa-Tuesday, news broke from the USU-Eastern Utah athletic department that two former Golden Eagles baseball standouts will continue their collegiate careers at NAIA William Penn.
Sophomore left-handed pitcher/1st baseman Jarrett Hunt of Hyrum, Utah and Mountain Crest High School and sophomore left-handed pitcher Chase Stratton of Clearfield, Utah and Clearfield High School have moved on to play for the Statesmen of Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Hunt was named as an all-Region 18 1st teamer at first base, hitting .346 while scoring 25 runs. Additionally, he posted 46 hits, seven doubles, 24 RBI and an on-base percentage of .453.
Hunt also pitched in nine games, posting a 1-1 record as well as 22 strikeouts and a 3.15 ERA.
Stratton pitched in 13 games for the Golden Eagles, netting a 4-6 record and 5.40 ERA while posting 59 strikeouts.
Stratton also hit .143, posting six RBI, five hits, six runs and a home run on the 2018 season.
Other Golden Eagles to find homes at four-year institutions, include pitcher Jarod Lessar at BYU, third baseman Jesse Rowley at Cal State Bakersfield and shortstop Cole Fossat at Dixie State.
