Region 14 Track & Field Championship Meet

NEPHI, Utah-Thursday, Juab’s boys (149 points) and Delta’s girls (164 points) each secured Region 14 titles during the final day of competition at the Region 14 championship meet at Juab High School.

Delta’s boys narrowly missed out on the sweep, posting 148 points. Meanwhile, Juab’s girls were far behind Delta with 129 points as the Rabbits cruised to victory.

Dason Day of Juab (10:25.12) took the boys’ 3200-meter run title for Region 14.

Savannah Nielson of Delta took the title in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles (16.67 seconds) and Adi Nielson earned the title in the 300-meter hurdles (45.37) for the Rabbits. Adi Nielson also won the girls’ 400-meter dash title (58.29).

Ronnie Walker of Juab was the girls’ 100-meter (12.39) and 200-meter dash (26.03) champion for Region 14. Walker also won the girls’ long jump title (18-01.75).

Delta’s Derek Smith is the 100-meter dash champion for the boys (11.16). Smith also took the 200-meter dash title (23.32).

The Juab girls took the 4 x 100 relay title (50.68) as the Wasps were represented by Demi Jackson, Jakell Oliver, Bayli Heap and Ronnie Walker.

The Delta boys took the 4 x 100 title (45.04) with Oran Finlinson, William Finlinson, Trey Brough and Derek Smith representing the Rabbits in this event.

Oran Finlinson also won the boys’ 400-meter dash title (52.29) for Delta.

Jaymen Brough is the boys’ 300-meter hurdles champion (41.31) giving the Rabbits another title. Brough also won the boys’ high jump title (6 feet-2 inches).

Delta’s girls took the 4 x 400 relay title (4:17.87). They were represented in this event by Savannah Nielson, Megan Atkinson, Jordyn Nielson and Adi Nielson.

The Juab boys earned the 4 x 400 crown (3:35.90) while the Wasps in this event were Coltin Fletcher, Dason Day, Tyler Dinkel and Brigham Perry.

Trey Brough of Delta is the boys’ long jump champion (21-04.00) and Clarence Kool of Juab won the boys’ shot put crown (40-00.50).

Ty Durbin of Juab is the discus champion for Region 14 (119-07).

Paityn Callister of Delta took the girls’ discus crown (106-05) and Juab’s Zac Cowan earned the boys’ javelin crown (166-01).

Brooklynn Hunter of Juab (5 feet-4 inches) is the girls’ high jump champion to conclude the meet.

Region 19 Track & Field Championships

BLANDING, Utah-Thursday, at the Region 19 track and field championship meet hosted by San Juan High School, the Wayne Badgers’ boys (72.5 points) and girls (114 points) each placed second. Monticello’s boys (194 points) and girls (124 points) each took region crowns.

Hali Peterson gave the Badgers a key win in the girls’ 200-meter dash (29.15) with Brynnli Nelson taking the region title in the 100-meter hurdles (17.41) for Wayne. Nelson also won the title in the girls’ javelin (96-08).

Hanna Williams gave the Wayne girls another region crown in the high jump (4 feet-10 inches).

Wyatt Van Orden took the title in the boys’ long jump (21-04) and the Wayne girls won the 4 x 400 relay title (5:43.95). Regrettably, we do not have the names of the Badgers who excelled in this event.

The Badgers will continue their season May 17 and 18 at the state track and field championships at Brigham Young University in Provo.
