UVU High School Invitational

OREM, Utah-Saturday, numerous Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network athletes and schools competed at the UVU High School Invitational at the Hal Wing Track & Field Complex on the campus of Utah Valley University.

The Lone Peak girls (114.5 points) took the meet championship while Richfield placed 18th with 14 points. Millard checked in at 27th place, posting 9 points.

For the boys, Coronado (Nev.) won the title with 84 points while Richfield was 21st with 13 points.

In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Millard’s Audrey Camp (5:24.19) placed 11th and North Sanpete’s Isabelle Hightower finished 10th (13.14 seconds) in the girls’ 100-meter dash.

Mary Degraffenreid of Millard (1:02.23) finished 14th in the girls’ 400-meter dash. She also placed fifth in the girls’ high jump (5 feet).

Millard’s girls also excelled in the medley relay, placing fourth (4:30.49). This team consisted of Kadence Koyle, Rylee Miller, Paige Cummings and Audrey Camp.

Richfield’s girls finished sixth in the 4 x 400 relay (4:22.57) as this team featured Hadyn Black, Brianna Davis-Mitchell, Melissa Crane and Passion Reitz.

In the girls’ long jump, Richfield’s Melissa Crane (17-04.25) placed second with Passion Reitz (16-3) finishing sixth for the Wildcats.

In the girls’ javelin, Wayne’s Brynnli Nelson (357-07.25) finished third.

For the boys, Richfield’s Hayden Harward won the 800-meter run title (1:55.25), beating second-place Joe Corbridge of Class 6-A American Fork by a full second.

The Wildcats were also paced Tyler Johnson (6:56.10), who placed 13th in the 2000-meter steeplechase and Kade Jensen who finished sixth in the booys’ 400-meter dash (51.33 seconds).

Millard’s boys finished 9th in the medley relay (4:02.56) as this team featured Carson Brunson, Kasen Whitaker, Brayden Johnson and Shade Woodard.

In the boys’ long jump, Wyatt Van Orden of Wayne finished fourth (21 feet) to round out participation for Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network athetes and schools at the event.

Hurricane Invitational

HURRICANE, Utah-Saturday, the Hurricane Invitational concluded as Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network schools and athletes had the chance to compete against several schools from larger classifications and hold their own.

The girls’ title was won by Cedar (104.5 points) while Beaver finished 12th with 16 points, Bryce Valley was 14th with 8 points and Milford and Kanb tied for 15th with 7 points apiece.

For the boys, Hurricane edged Desert Hills, 83.5-82.5 to take the meet championship. Beaver finished ninth with 31 points, Valley finished 12th with 18 points , Kanab finished 14th with 13 points and Milford finished 15th with 8 points.

The Kanab girls placed 10th in the 4 x 400 relay in a time of 4.39.88. This team consisted of Macie Stewart, Bethany Nording, Allison Clarkson and Nellie Bowman.

In the girls’ javelin, Milford’s Jacelin Hardy placed sixth (100-11.25 feet) and the girls’ shot put saw Beaver’s Kaylee Hafen place third (31-04.00 feet). Also in this event, Kanab’s Haylie Hatch placed fourth (31-01 feet), Ayline Vega of Milford placed sixth (30-03 feet), Kaydee Marshall of Beaver placed seventh (30-01 feet) and Madysen Griffiths of Milford placed eighth (29-11 feet).

In the girls’ long jump, Beaver’s Kaitlyn Hemond placed second (16-05.50 feet), Bryce Valley’s Brooklyn Syrett finished fourth (15-07 feet) and Kristen Stewart of Bryce Valley finished sixth (15-03 feet).

For the boys, Milford finished fifth in the 4 x 100 relay (46.58 seconds). This team featured Dylan Ferguson, Russell Walker, Bryson Barnes and Brett Beebe. Also, Kanab’s “A team” finished 8th (47.37 seconds) as the Cowboys were represented by Jarom Johnson, Connor Chamberlain, Luke Browning and Karson Blomquist.

In the boys’ 400-meter dash, Cameron Franklin of Valley placed second (52.45 seconds). He also finished third in the 200-meter dash (22.94 seconds).

Jaden Fails of Beaver finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (44.39 seconds).

In the boys’ 800-meter run, Beaver’s Spencer Williams (2:06.80) finished 12th and Clay Shakespear of Kanab finishd 13th (2:07.75).

In the boys’ 4 x 400 meter relay, Milford finished fifth (3:43.97) as the Tigers were represented by Calvin Holm, Bret Beebe, Russell Walker and Bryson Barnes. The Beaver “A team” placed 8th (3:51.37) in the event and were led by Jaden Fails, Ky Brown, Brock Edwards and Turner Williams.

The boys’ long jump saw Beaver’s Porter Albrecht (19-09 feet) place fifth, while Jarom Johnson of Kanab finished seventh (19-08 feet).

Finally, in the boys’ high jump, Kanab’s Sam Orton placed fourth (6 feet) and his teammates, Cade Szymanski placed 7th (5 feet-8 inches) and Sean Gray finished 10th (5 feet-8 inches) respectively.
