Track and Field Receives USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

OREM, Utah-Tuesday, Utah Valley men’s and women’s track and field each earned U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s Division I all-academic team honors for the 2017-18 year.

Additionally, three Wolverines earned USTFCCCA individual All-American honors.

These honorees include senior sprinter Alena Gillespie of Highland, Utah, who earned these honors for the second consecutive year, and first-time honorees in sophomore distance runner Adrian Jones of Meridian, Idaho and sophomore Albert McArthur of Port Orchard, Wash., who specializes in jumps.

Incidentally, all three of these Wolverines’ track and field athletes also qualified for the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West preliminary championships.

To qualify for these all-academic honors, student-athletes must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.25, and meet the athletic standards for both the indoor and outdoor track seasons.

Furthermore, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I championships (including preliminary rounds) for the indoor season.

Additionally, for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the indoor regular season ranked in the national Top 96 in an individual event or Top 48 in a relay event on the NCAA’s official POP list which is provided by tfrrs.org.
