LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, three Utah State men’s basketball standouts were named to all-Mountain West Conference squads.
For the second consecutive season, Aggies star senior guard, Sam Merrill, was named to the conference’s first team.
Sophomore center Neemias Queta was named to the second team and sophomore forward Justin Bean was named to the third team.
Queta and Bean were also named to the all-Mountain West defensive team.
Merrill leads the Aggies in scoring (18.8 points per game) and assists (117).
Merrill is also the first Aggie since Tai Wesley to earn back-to-back all first-team conference honors. Wesley achieved this distinction in 2010 and 2011.
Despite suffering from a litany of injuries this season, Queta averaged 12.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, while also posting a team-best 29 blocked shots in 19 games this season.
Bean was one of only three Mountain West Conference student-athletes to average a double-double this season in posting 12.3 points and 10.3 boards for the Aggies.
He also ranks 12th nationally with 319 net rebounds on the season, tying him for that distinction with Minnesota sophomore center Daniel Oturu.
