Taylor Promoted To BYU Associate Head Track and Field Coach Position

PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, per an announcement from BYU track and field head coach Ed Eyestone, Diljeet Taylor was promoted as his assistant.

Taylor already serves as the associate head coach for the Cougars’ women’s cross country program, being promoted to this position in September 2017.

Since joining the Cougars’ track and field staff, the women have netted 13 All-American honors in both distance and middle-distance events.

Among her five first-team All-Americans from the 2018 indoor season is former Panguitch High star Whittni Orton in the mile.

Before coming to Provo, Taylor coached at Division II Cal State Stanislaus, staying with the Warriors from 2007-2016.

While there, Taylor was instrumental in helping All-American Courtney Anderson win the Division II national title in the 1500-meter run in 2014.

Taylor also competed for the Warriors from 1999-2002 and became a three-time All-American in both indoor and outdoor track and field  and specialized in both the 800 and 1500-meter runs.

In 2002, she set the Cal State Stanislaus record in the 800-meter run and was named as the school’s female athlete of the year as well.

She is a 2002 graduate of Cal State Stanislaus, earning a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. She is married to former Cal State Stanislaus men’s basketball player Ira Taylor and has two children, Taj and Avi.
