INDIANAPOLIS-Friday, Utah State tight end Dax Raymond and BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki were invited to the NFL Draft Combine.
Raymond is one of 21 tight ends to be invited to this annual pre-draft event which sees athletes undergo measurements as well as speed and strength tests before the gaze of NFL personnel.
Raymond, a 6-5 250-pound junior, has foregone his senior season at Logan and has 72 receptions for 873 yards and three scores as a collegian.
Takitaki, a 6-2 230-pound senior out of Fontana, Calif., played outside and middle linebacker as well as defensive end for the Cougars during his collegiate career.
He served as a Cougars team captain in 2018 and was named the national defensive player of the week after BYU’s 24-21 upset of then-#6 Wisconsin.
With his invitation, Takitaki follows in the footsteps of former Cougars linebacker Fred Warner, who was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
The durable Warner started all 16 of the 49ers games in 2018 and was 12th in the NFL in tackles with 124 stops.
