SUU Men’s Basketball Projected Non-Conference Schedule Is Revealed

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Monday, Southern Utah University men’s basketball coach Todd Simon announced the Thunderbirds’ prospective non-conference schedule.

SUU is projected to start their season November 10 at Loyola Marymount of the West Coast Conference in Los Angeles.

The Thunderbirds will then visit a pair of Power 5 conference foes in visiting national power Kansas November 13 at Lawrence, Kan. and Wake Forest of the Atlantic Coast Conference at Winston-Salem, N.C. November 15.

Simon, a native Michigander, will then take his squad to Crisler Arena of Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Big Ten power Michigan November 27.

Loyola Marymount is coming off an 11-21 season in 2019-20 and have a new head coach in Stan Johnson.

Kansas, who would have been the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament before its ultimate cancellation last March, is coming off of a 28-3 (.903) season.

Kansas head coach Bill Self, entering his 18th season as the Jayhawks’ head coach, has led the squad to a 501-109 (.821) record, including a national title in 2008.

Wake Forest is coming off of a 13-18 season, resulting in the firing of Danny Manning, who was 78-111 (.413) in six seasons at the helm of the Demon Deacons’ program.

Wake Forest is now coached by former East Tennessee State head coach Steve Forbes who was 130-43 (.751) in five seasons coaching the Buccaneers.

Michigan is coached by second-year head coach Juwan Howard, who went 19-12 (.613) last season.

SUU will commence its home schedule December 5 by hosting NCCAA foe Bethesda of Anaheim, Calif.
