CEDAR CITY, Utah-Saturday, the 1-6 Southern Utah Thunderbirds return to Cedar City for a three-game homestand in a Big Sky Conference tilt against Northern Colorado.
This is SUU’s annual Cedar City Night wherein mayor Maile Wilson and the city council will be honored. Additionally, the 2018-19 Athletics Hall of Fame class will be honored.
The Thunderbirds are led by new signal-caller Austin Ewing, who has primarily been effective as a runner, netting 220 rushing yards on the season coming into this game against the Bears.
His leading receiver is Landen Measom who has 34 receptions for 371 yards on the season.
Defensively for SUU, linebacker Chinedu Ahanonu has 59 tackles on the season, including two for a loss and two sacks.
Cornerback Taelin Webb leads the Thunderbirds with eight pass breakups.
The Bears come into this game at 1-7 on the season, including 1-4 in Big Sky Conference play.
Northern Colorado is paced by quarterbacks Conor Regan (63-107, 4 TD’s/6 INT’s) and Keaton Mott (60-114, 806 yards, 8 TD’s/3 INT’s).
The leading rusher for the Bears is Milo Hall (110 car, 508 yards, 4 TD’s) and their leading receiver is Alex Wesley (45 rec, 909 yards, 4 TD’s).
The series between the Thunderbirds and Bears dates back to 2003 with SUU leading the all-time series 4-2.
Following this game, the Thunderbirds will host Montana November 3 and in-state rival Weber State November 10 for the final home game of the season.
