HERRIMAN, Utah-The Snow College women’s soccer team upset No. 5 and previously undefeated Salt Lake C.C. on Saturday to win the 2019 Region XVIII Soccer Championship Tournament. With the 3-1 victory, the Lady Badgers have earned the right to host the District Championships next Friday in Ephraim. The Badgers will play host to the winner of the Arizona Western – Paradise Valley match. The winner will advance to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament.
After SLCC took an early 1-0 lead, the Lady Badgers tied things up with 3:34 left in the first half when Sydney Bushman scored on a penalty kick. In the second half, Alaiana Pestana took advantage of a mishandled ball by the Salt Lake C.C. goalkeeper and found the back of the net to give Snow what would be the game-winning goal. Just a couple minutes later Kaiya Jefferson’s goal made it 3-1 with 6:43 left in the game.

Men
HERRIMAN, Utah-Omar Gomez, Samuel Owusu and Juan Araque each scored as the No. 3 Salt Lake C.C. Bruins bested Snow 3-1 to win the Region XVIII men’s soccer tournament championship. Kade Jorgensen scored in the loss for the Badgers. Snow ends their season with a 10-3 record and a 5-4 mark in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
