Schoolwork Goes Swimmingly For Utah Women’s Swimming

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced its selection of Utah women’s swimming and diving as a scholar All-America team.

The Utah women had a 3.46 GPA during the spring semester after recording a 3.49 GPA in the fall, its highest mark since 2010.

This is the 11th straight semester the Utes have earned a team academic award in the sport.

This award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester and again in the spring, to recognize teams who achieve a 3.0 GPA during that semester.

The Pac-12 was one of four conferences to have every men’s and women’s team honored, while the CSCAA will announce its individual scholar All-Americans next week.

Earlier this year, the Utes had 14 student-athletes in both men’s and women’s swimming and diving named to Pac-12 all-academic teams.

Those on the first team include senior sprint free Dorien Butter of Cairo, Egypt and senior free/back Hailey Pabst of Logan, Utah.

Other first-team honorees include sophomore fly/back/IM Christina Pick of Alpharetta, Ga., and sophomore breast/fly/free IM Marah Smith of Bountiful, Utah.

Second-team honorees for the Utes include sophomore back/free Mallori Allen of Dallas and sophomore sprint/free/back Sarah Lott of Los Alamos, N.M.
