RENO, Nev.-Wilfredo Tovar came up with a crucial sacrifice fly RBI and Jose Briceno added a 2-RBI double in the pivotal 7th Inning as the Salt Lake Bees won their fifth straight game by besting the Reno Aces 11-9 at Greater Nevada Field Tuesday afternoon.
The opportunistic Bees overcame a 2-0 deficit and used Tovar and Briceno’s heroics to break out of a 7-7 7th Inning tie for the victory, which improves them to 15-23 on the season.
Taylor Ward and Cesar Puello added home runs for the Bees, while Matt Thaiss and Jose Rojas, as well as Puello, all had additional RBI for Salt Lake.
The Aces, who slumped to 14-25, received home runs from Ildemaro Vargas, Kevin Cron and Yasmany Tomas.
The Bees next have a day off Wednesday before hosting Las Vegas Thursday at 6:35 pm. This is Teacher Appreciation Night at Smith’s Ballpark.
