Revamped, revised college schedule produces Navy-BYU opener

Monday night’s season opener between Navy and Brigham Young came together out of necessity.

Both teams lost their original first-week opponent because of the coronavirus pandemic, so the schools agreed to play at the Naval Academy. There won’t be any fans in the stands, but the game will be played in prime time and televised nationally.

During a football season that has had entire conferences cancel play this fall, BYU-Navy is arguably the biggest game of Labor Day weekend. It’s the first time since 1989 that the schools have played each other.
